Ounsdale High School - Wombourne, Staffordshire
Food Technology and Media/ICT
Ounsdale High School in Staffordshire commenced planning on the refurbishment of their Food Technology Rooms in the early part of 2009, in order to transform their existing space into a modern and bright environment in which the pupils could learn. A-Z Partnership were asked to provide design ideas and a project solution to include the remodelling of the areas and include all of the building works including new flooring and decoration, new gas, water and electrical services to suit the required furniture layout.

Full design consultation was provided allowing the staff working in the areas to be fully involved every step of the way, ensuring that the school included for everything they needed in the layouts and that the project was kept within the budget allocated. In addition to this, A-Z were also asked to look at two media rooms that required refurbishment and designs were quickly prepared to the schools specification. The redundant furniture and equipment was removed and services redistributed to serve the new layouts. After the flooring and decoration had been completed, the new furniture was installed with all final connections and testing carried out on the services.
Both projects were run in tandem in order to minimise disruption. All four rooms were completed during a five week programme within the summer holiday allowing the school to move back into the rooms before the pupils returned for the new term.
Karen Cook, School Business Manager, said: "We are delighted with the result of the projects A-Z has delivered for us. They are a friendly and professional company who do exactly what they say they are going to do with no hidden extras. I have no hesitation in recommending A-Z Partnership to any organisation and I will be looking to use them again for future projects at Ounsdale."

Chesterton Community College - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Science Department
A-Z Partnership were awarded the contract to refurbish two of the science laboratories at Chesterton Community College and tasked to provide two modern learning environments.

A-Z stripped out all of the old furniture, redundant mechanical and electrical services, then laid new floors, decorated throughout, installed new ceilings and lighting and then installed new furniture to meet the requirements of the school. This, in some labs, entailed the replacement of old linear bench rows with modern islands allowing flexibility for a variety of practical and theory layouts. This initial project was completed within the summer holiday period to ensure no disruption to the timetable.
Following this successful project, the college decided to continue its extensive refurbishment programme and continued to plan for the refurbishment of all of the other laboratories in the department. Following a rigorous tender process, A-Z Partnership was successful in securing the order for the remaining five laboratories. The programme of works was then negotiated with the college and the majority of the work was completed using half term holidays and weekend access, again, to minimise the disruption to the college timetable. A-Z's flexibility in delivering solutions meant that the challenging four-week time constraint was met and the project delivered on time, in full and within the budget.
Tracy Roden, College Business Manager, said: "Working with A-Z for our science refurbishments has been a painless task from our point of view from start to finish. Nothing is too much trouble for A-Z, they run a friendly but highly professional business. A-Z helped us design detailed specifications to assist with the tendering process. Their quotes were keen; the products they use are high quality as is the workmanship. Timescales have been adhered to and project management on site has been invaluable. I would have no hesitation in recommending A-Z to any organisation. They're a dream team I only wish all contractors were so dedicated to providing such a quality service."

Sandbach School - Sandbach, Cheshire
ICT Suite Refurbishment
In the lead up to the summer break of 2008, A-Z Partnership were contacted by Sandbach School with a view to assisting the school in developing their ideas for the refurbishment of their ICT suite.

“Innovative design”
Abandoning traditional perimeter benching, the school led an innovative design which allows delivery to be conducted from one focus of the room and practical work monitored from another. This ensures that the teaching staff can readily see student computer screens at all times in order to support learning.
“Re-use and recycle”
A-Z and the school were able to lessen the impact on the environment during the course of this refurbishment by retaining existing serviceable fitted furniture and renewing the outward faces to match the remainder of the installation.
Euan Imrie, School Bursar, said: "We were very impressed with the professionalism of A-Z Partnership from our first contact to the completion of the project. We are delighted with the new ICT Suite which was finished on time, on budget, and to a high standard of quality."

Langley Park School for Boys - Beckenham, Kent
New Science Laboratory
At Langley Park School for Boys, the school was expanding its teaching facilities with the addition of two modular type buildings for general teaching and a science laboratory and prep room.

These building works required A-Z to work alongside the building company and the school to ensure that the furniture installation proceeded as smoothly as possible with all of the mechanical and electrical works being co-ordinated with the schools own preferred contractors.
The installation progressed very smoothly and all of the works were completed within the programme agreed with the school.
Ken Pullen, Site Manager, said: "Just to say how pleased we are with our new laboratory which was completed recently. The quality of the furniture is excellent and the fitting team were extremely efficient, completing all works with the minimum amount of disruption and well within the time allotted. As a former Contract Manager I was most impressed with all aspects of this project, from Value for Money to pre-contract meetings right through to practical completion, A-Z have shown first class service delivery and a very professional approach to a difficult job. Chris Burchill handled the Project Management including the liaising with other contractors and Tony Woods has proved invaluable post completion, ensuring everything was in order during and after the works were finished. Both were available 24 hrs a day to answer queries and everyone at A-Z has gone the extra mile to provide complete customer satisfaction. We will have no hesitation in approaching A-Z again for future projects. "

The Ridgeway High School - Noctorum, Wirral
During the summer of 2007 A-Z were tasked to refurbish the Science laboratories at Ridgeway High School on the Wirral.

With very short timescales and a demanding programme to be achieved we completed the project on time and in full with all of the schools expectations met as a result.
Jamie Sheils, School Business Manager, said: "
Ridgeway High School is a progressive secondary school based in Prenton Wirral. Consistent with our motto of 'Reaching Higher Standards' the school has a detailed strategic refurbishment plan. One of the tasks within the plan was the refurbishment of two existing Science classrooms, the creation of a Science preparation room and the transformation of a current Geography classroom into a Science classroom.
The timescales for this work were particularly tight and we basically only had the summer holidays for this work to be completed. Starting the first week of the holidays with a targeted completion date of the 3rd September, we could ill afford little slippage as these classrooms had to be ready for the start of the new term.
This was the first time I had dealt with A-Z Partnership. They become known to us following their delivery of a successful project in another Wirral school. From the outset their approach and professionalism gave me total peace of mind. There plans were accurate and we worked together, with an excellent blend of their experience and our understanding, to design the ideal Science classrooms. The project ran very smoothly, the A-Z team arrived when expected and it was reassuring to see that there was always a manager/supervisor present to discuss progress. The look of each classroom on completion was exactly as originally agreed, the quality of the units was of a particularly high spec and the fitting was excellent.
Thanks to the professionalism of A-Z Partnership, this project was delivered within timescales and we are very satisfied with the outcome.
Would I use A-Z Partnership again.............yes.

Murray Park School - Mickleover, Derbyshire
Science Laboratory Refurbishment
During the lead up to the summer break, A-Z Partnership was contacted to assist Murray Park School with the development of their new science laboratory refurbishment. The project needed to be completed during the summer break and due to timetable constraints, the room could not afford to be out of commission for when the school returned in September.

A-Z attended several design meetings in order to ensure that the requirements of Roger Hatcher, Assistant Headteacher at Murray Park School and the science department were catered for in every sense.
Once instructed, the project commenced with the complete strip out of all of the old furniture and equipment the addition of new flooring, service provisions and decoration to the room ready to receive the furniture the following week. The programme ensured all of the works were completed within the timescales given by the school nd they were able to move into the laboratory before the new term.
Roger Hatcher, Assistant Headteacher, said: "We approached A-Z Partnership (along with several other companies) for a quotation to strip out and refit a science laboratory. The attention we received from the company during the planning process was unmatched by the other companies approached, making the contract decision an easy one. The work was carried out over the summer holiday period with a proviso that the lab would be ready for the first day of term. The work was carried out without fuss and to a high standard. A handover took place before the start of term and all users of the lab are pleased with the results. We would happily recommend A-Z Partnership and will include them on our shortlist for future work of a similar nature."

Penkridge Middle School - Penkridge, Staffordshire
Science Laboratory Refurbishment
Penkridge Middle School is located in the village of Penkridge in Staffordshire and in February 2007 the final go ahead was decided to refurbish a laboratory at the School and so the process of gaining competitive quotations started.

A-Z Partnership were invited to provide a full turnkey quotation for the project as the scheme called for the complete strip out of all the existing furniture and equipment, minor alterations to the room and a new furniture layout to accommodate the students. A-Z Partnership attended several design meetings in order to ensure the design was exactly what the school required and every step of the way made sure that the science teacher who occupied the room, Mrs Gaynor Brotherhood, made every input to arrive at the finished layout.
After refining the specification for all of the new fittings, flooring, decoration and installation programme, A-Z Partnership were appointed as the refurbishment contractor and work began at the start of the summer break. All of the existing furniture was removed; flooring taken up and services for gas, water and electricity were relocated to suit the new layout design. After all building works were completed, the furniture installation began and the full installation including all building related works was completed in less than 4 weeks.
The furniture and fittings were all manufactured to the high specification demanded by Staffordshire County Council and Quality Learning Services and the room now provides the pupils with a new, bright, flexible and innovative learning environment in which to discover science.
Gaynor Brotherhood, Science Teacher, said: "I am really pleased with how the lab has turned out. Thank you for the work you have done and the manner in which you have done it. It has meant that any disruption to teaching and learning for the pupils has been kept to a minimum which is really important to me, and they now have a more up to date and I hope stimulating environment in which to learn. You have also been very professional and easy people to work with. Pupil feedback is overwhelmingly positive and other staff members here are also impressed."
